'Brokeback Mountain' domina las candidaturas del Oscar

El filme "Brokeback Mountain", del taiwanés Ang Lee, se impuso en la lista de seleccionados para competir en la 78 edición de los Oscar con un total de ocho candidaturas.
La cinta centrada en la historia de amor de dos vaqueros está seguida de cerca por los filmes "Crash" y "Good Night, and Good Luck", con seis candidaturas cada uno.
Este año el cine en español tiene escasa presencia en la lista, aunque en una sola categoría, el Oscar a la Mejor Banda Sonora, compiten un candidato español, Alberto Iglesias, y un argentino, Gustavo Santaolalla.
Iglesias fue seleccionado por su trabajo en "The Constant Gardener" y Santaolalla por el suyo en "Brokeback Mountain".
Además los mexicanos Rodrigo Prieto y Emmanuel Lubezki aspiran al Oscar en la categoría de mejor director de fotografía por su trabajo en "Brokeback Mountain" y "The New World", respectivamente.
"Brokeback Mountain" cosechó la candidatura a la mejor película, mejor actor (Heath Ledger), mejor actor secundario (Jake Gyllenhaal), mejor actriz secundaria (Michelle Williams) y mejor director (Ang Lee).
También obtuvo la candidatura a mejor guión adaptado, mejor banda sonora y fotografía.
En el caso de "Good Night, and Good Luck", el filme centrado en la cruzada de un periodista contra la "caza de brujas" en Estados Unidos, defiende la candidatura de mejor película, mejor actor (David Strathairn), mejor director y mejor guión original (George Clooney).
Además es candidato en la categoría de mejor fotografía y mejor dirección de arte.
Clooney es el actor con más candidaturas en su haber: mejor director, mejor guión y mejor actor secundario por "Syriana".
La que fue estrella de televisión con E.R., también es el productor de "Good Night, and Good Luck" lo que le daría una cuarta candidatura como mejor película, aunque su nombre no figura en los títulos de crédito.
El drama coral "Crash" suma a su candidatura como mejor película la de mejor actor secundario para Matt Dillon, mejor dirección y mejor guión original (Paul Haggis), mejor montaje y mejor canción.
Completan la lista de candidatos a la mejor película "Capote", una realización de Bennett Miller centrada en la biografía del escritor Truman Capote; y "Munich", de Steven Spielberg, sobre el atentado terrorista en los Juegos Olímpicos celebrados en 1972 de esa ciudad alemana.
Pese a la polémica suscitada por "Munich", prácticamente ausente de otras entregas de premios, la cinta de Spielberg aspira a un total de cinco premios.
Junto a la candidatura por mejor película y la de mejor director, "Munich" aspira al Oscar por la mejor banda sonora (John Williams), mejor guión adaptado y mejor montaje.
En la categoría al mejor actor fueron elegidos Heath Ledger por "Brokeback Mountain"; Philip Seymour Hoffman, por "Capote"; Terrence Howard por "Hustle and Flow"; Joaquin Phoenix por "Walk the Line" y David Strathairn por "Good Night, and Good Luck".
Como mejor actriz, la categoría la componen en esta edición Judi Dench ("Mrs. Henderson Presents"), Felicity Hauffman por "Transamerica"; Charlize Theron por "North Country", Reese Witherspoon por "Walk the Line" y Keira Knightley por "Pride and Prejudice".
Junto a Clooney, Dillon y Gyllenhaal completan la categoría de mejor actor secundario Paul Giamatti ("Cinderella Man") y William Hurt por "A History of Violence".
Como mejores actrices secundarias junto a Williams compiten por el Oscar Catherine Keener ("Capote"), Frances McDormand ("North Country"), Rachel Weisz ("The Constant Gardener") y Amy Adams ("June Bug").
Los ganadores de la 78 edición de los Oscar se darán a conocer el próximo 5 de marzo en la ceremonia que tendrá lugar en el teatro Kodak de Los Angeles.
