Washington ha dicho que espera afianzar la cooperación en seguridad con Honduras, aunque poco antes de los comicios indultó al expresidente hondureño Juan Orlando Hernández, copartidario de Asfura y quien purgaba en Estados Unidos 45 años de cárcel por narcotráfico.
