Pretoria (South Africa).- (FILE) - South African Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius (C) arrives at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria for his sentencing for murder charges, Pretoria, South Africa, 06 July 2016 (reissued 04 January 2024). South Africa's Department of Correctional Services (DCS) stated that the Correctional Supervision and Parole Board (CSPB) in November 2023 decided to place inmate Oscar Pistorius on parole, effective from 05 January 2024. 'Pistorius shall be admitted into the system of Community Corrections and will be monitored until the expiry date of his sentence in 2029', the department said in a statement on 03 January 2024. Pistorius, a former Paralympic athlete, has been in jail since 2014 for the killing of model and girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day in 2013. He was convicted of murder and sentenced to 13 years and five months in prison.
