Cientos de agricultores en Portugal se unen a las protestas europeas
Las protestas del sector agricultor que iniciaron en Francia también llegaron a Portugal.

Cientos de agricultores portugueses se han sumado al movimiento de protesta de sus colegas europeos para exigir la “valoración” de su actividad y bloquearon este jueves varias carreteras, incluidos dos pasos fronterizos hacia España.
“Sobrevivimos con muchas dificultades”, dijo a la AFP Rui Sousa, de 58 años, que participó en una concentración en Golega, en el centro del país.
Alrededor de las 09h00 (local y GMT), dos carreteras seguían bloqueadas en ambos sentidos cerca de la frontera española, en Vilar Formoso, en el norte, y Elvas, más al sur, dijo la gendarmería.

También hubo bloqueos cerca de Chamusca y Golega, en la región de Santarém, en el centro del país.
La movilización fue convocada el miércoles por el Movimiento Civil de Agricultores de Portugal, que se presenta como una iniciativa espontánea y apartidista.
“La ira ha ido en aumento desde el anuncio de los recortes en las ayudas” para compensar la disminución de la producción, explicó a la AFP Nuno Mayer, uno de los portavoces del movimiento.
Sin embargo, esta iniciativa no tiene el apoyo de la principal organización del sector, la Confederación de Agricultores Portugueses (CAP), porque considera que el Gobierno ya se ha comprometido a revertir los recortes.

Frente a las protestas, el gobierno anunció el miércoles medidas de apoyo de unos 500 millones de euros (540 millones de dólares) para ayudar a los agricultores a paliar entre otras las consecuencias de la sequía, sobre todo en el sur del país.
Las protestas agrícolas afectan a países de toda Europa, en particular en Francia, donde seguían por los bloqueos de varias carreteras.
